We've created an academic environment where students can live out the University's ideal - to Learn, Lead and Serve. It's a commitment that resonates throughout our department.

Our Department offers majors and minors in Entrepreneurship, International Business Management and Marketing, and what we are doing is attracting attention.  Our Entrepreneurship program for undergraduates is one of the very best in the nation – currently rated 15th in the country in 2017 by Princeton Review and Entrepreneur Magazine. The University of Dayton is one of only seven universities nationwide to have been rated consistently in the top 25 for the past 11 years.

International Business Management majors will choose an emphasis in either Human Resources Management or Global Markets. In both tracks, students must consider how much to adapt to local market conditions. For Human Resources, students examine the decision whether to hire local country managers or to bring in ex-patriate managers from headquarters. For the Global Markets track, students must determine how much of a product or service requires local adaptation. In addition, students examine outsourcing and partnering decisions that are present in virtually all publicly-held companies today. This requires not only understanding the unique combination of firm and market needs, but also the costs and time that every choice entails. All International Business Management majors must all put "boots on the ground" by completing an international study abroad experience.

Majors in Marketing can also earn emphases in Sales Management or Product Innovation.  Our Sales Management emphasis is in high demand among employers because of its focus on business-to-business, consultative, high-tech selling.  Our Sales Management program is recognized by Selling Power Magazine as a top university training program for developing sales professionals. The Product Innovation program enables students to identify customer problems, then create new products and services that meet customer needs. Product Innovation faculty collaborate with the School of Engineering in designing new products and services. All three of our majors embrace a theory-to-practice orientation that includes hands-on, required capstone courses involving projects which solve real problems for real organizations.

We don't stop there.  Our Department sponsors several real-world competitions for students, who earn invaluable experience and prize money in the process. The Fiore Talorico Center for Professional Selling sends groups of students to four to six national sales competitions each year.  The Everest Real Estate Challenge is an annual competition open to entrepreneurship majors whereby students provide real solutions to owners of commercial real estate properties. All UD students can compete in the annual UD Business Plan Competition organized by our Entrepreneurship program and offering over $80,000 in prize money.  In addition, our CEO Club sends students to the National C-E-O Conference each year where they compete in national elevator pitch competitions.
