High School Counselors
Helping Students Navigate College Admission
You have an important job in helping students navigate the college admission process, and we want to support your counseling efforts. Here, we provide more information about UD so you can help your students apply with confidence. Please contact us if you have questions or need additional information.
Welcome to the University of Dayton School Counselor Visit Experience! During this two-day event, we are delighted to offer you an immersive experience designed specifically for school counselors and community-based organizations. This is an excellent opportunity for networking and collaboration, enabling you to exchange ideas, share best practices, and establish connections that can benefit both you and your students.
University of Dayton President Eric Spina recently shared his thoughts about the challenges admitted students and their families are experiencing with this year’s FAFSA delays. As our president assures in his message, we are prepared to provide financial aid offers as quickly as possible — and most importantly, students already have a home at UD.
We continue to await FAFSA data, which the U.S. Department of Education previously committed to providing by mid-March. Students who have filed the FAFSA will receive a confirmation email once we receive and process their FAFSA information.
UD plans to begin sending personalized financial aid offers to admitted students in April. Students will receive an email when their financial aid offer is available in their Admission Account, and the printed offer will follow in the mail.
While students await their financial aid offers, they can use our Net Price Calculator to estimate the first-year cost of their UD education while factoring in potential federal aid, grants and more.
At UD, we empower students by removing barriers. Through our Office of Learning Resources (OLR), students in all majors can access resources to help them perform at their highest academic level.
From accommodations for learning differences to tutoring for a challenging class, students can take advantage of a variety of services — all at no cost. In fact, more than half of first-year students utilize OLR services.
Classes and performances are now underway at the new Roger Glass Center for the Arts, UD’s first building dedicated to visual and performing arts.
Featuring a concert hall, experimental theater, art gallery and Flyer Media studio and production facilities, the center will provide opportunities for all students to experience and participate in creative expression — which we believe is integral to a holistic education.
With our application deadline extended to March 31, we’ll continue sending admission decisions and merit scholarship notifications on a rolling basis as students apply.
Please remind admitted students of these important next steps and deadlines:
- March: Students who have confirmed their enrollment can activate their Porches account, if they haven’t already, and follow their To-do List to complete the housing contract, register for orientation and more. Students should continue checking Porches for updates throughout the spring and summer.
To be included in the first round of housing assignments (on April 11), students must complete the housing contract by March 25. As a reminder, we encourage students to take advantage of our highly successful roommate match program that pairs students based on compatibility, not random assignment — this option is available when completing the housing contract. - April: Attend an admitted student event, if they haven’t already. Review financial aid offer and schedule a financial aid appointment.
- May: The deadline to confirm enrollment is May 15. Students confirm their enrollment and pay the $400 nonrefundable deposit, if applicable, in their Admission Account. If you or your students have any questions about confirming enrollment, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
