Opportunities are Everywhere


When searching for external scholarships:

  • Start with your local community - the candidate pool is smaller, which may increase your chance of receiving an award
  • Take caution when an application requires any personal information that does not pertain to the scholarship, such as social security numbers or access to social media accounts
  • Pay attention to the timeline for award selection - some might take up to a year or more
  • Find niche scholarships that pertain to who you are as an individual and what your interests are
  • Avoid applying for any scholarship that charges an application fee

Looking for funding to assist you with your graduate education, international studies or research project? University of Dayton students may be eligible to apply for several national fellowships and scholarships specifically geared towards these areas.


Freeman-ASIA accepts applications from U.S. citizens or permanent residents studying at the undergraduate level at a two-year or four-year college or university, with a minimum 2.8 cumulative GPA, who demonstrate financial need to study abroad in East or Southeast Asia. Amount varies.

Scholarships for Military and Veterans
The scholarship was created to celebrate international and DACA students, who enrich college campuses with their diverse experiences and points of view.

Global Citizen Scholarship
The U.S. Department of State’s Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship is a grant program that enables students of limited financial means to study or intern abroad, thereby gaining skills critical to our national security and economic prosperity.

Gilman International Scholarship
The PES Scholarship Plus Initiative provides scholarships and real world experience to undergraduates who are interested in power and energy engineering careers. Our undergraduate engineering scholarships aim to accomplish this goal by attracting highly qualified engineering students to the field. 

Scholarships for Future Power Engineers

Annually, two to three scholarships are offered to those who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender (LGBT) students and one or two to those who are straight ally students who actively support and advocate for LGBT individuals. PFLAG is honored to also administer a $1,000 scholarship offered by the Greater Dayton LGBT Center to any deserving LGBT student. Whether you are beginning your higher education career or returning as an adult student, these scholarships are designed to lend a helping hand.

PFLAG Dayton Scholarships
Student must be a current Lorain County resident and/or a graduate of a high school in Lorain County. Student must be pursuing teacher licensure with plans to graduate by 2020 or 2021 and must have earned a minimum of 60 semester hours by this summer. This fund is administered by the Lorain County Retired Teachers Association.

The Mary Elizabeth Keller Scholarship
Firelands Chorus, Inc. is pleased to offer its annual scholarship to a music education or music performance major from the Firelands area (Erie or Huron County, Ohio) who is at least a junior attending an accredited college or university. 

Beverlie Buck Mayer Scholarship
The Mansfield Noon Optimist Club is proud to announce that we will again be sponsoring two scholarship grants for the amount of $1,000 each. To be eligible, the applicant must have at least a 2.5 GPA and a permanent home address in Richland County, Ohio.

Mansfield Noon Optimist Scholarship
The Tuscarawas Valley Desk & Derrick Club is interested in awarding scholarship(s) to students pursuing a degree in an energy related field including civil engineering, marketing, finance, business, law, etc. Applicants must show financial need and have earned a minimum 3.0 GPA.
