For Visitors

Visitors and Visiting Scholars

Roesch Library welcomes visitors and visiting scholars with educational and research needs not being met in a neighborhood library. While our collections and services are staffed and funded to serve the scholarly needs of the University of Dayton faculty, students, and staff, we strive to provide reasonable access to the collections, computers, and facilities for all users. We do make a distinction between access (library use) and borrowing (home use) privileges. UD students, staff, and faculty have priority for all services and computers.  As a depository of government publications, Library staff will make accommodation for users needing access to online US government publications. Accommodation could include asking others to relinquish their computers.

Using Library Materials

Visitors may use library materials in the building. This does not include media equipment. Members from OhioLINK institutions must present a valid identification card from their institution in order to borrow materials. Members of the community who wish to borrow library materials for use outside of the building may purchase a visitor library card for $50 at the second-floor Services Desk.

Using Library Computers

Visitors not currently affiliated with the University of Dayton are limited to the two Visitor Computers on the second floor.  In addition to Internet access, the computers have access to most of the library's research databases and other resources available from the library website. Access to databases and e-resources from outside the library is not available to visitors due to licensing agreements. All government websites are accessible.

Visitor printing is not available in Roesch Library. We suggest using campus Print and Copy Services instead.

Visitors engaged in library research have priority on these computers.

Wi-Fi for Guests and Visitors

An unencrypted wireless network, UDconnect, provides guests with wireless internet access. Visit the UD network access website for more information.
