Muslim Life at the University of Dayton

In seeking to support students of all faiths, Campus Ministry maintains connections with local mosques and supports the Muslim Student Association in their efforts to celebrate Muslim life on campus.

Student Organizations

The university recognizes various national and cultural student organizations which may be of interest to international students. Find out more about recognized student organizations.

Muslim Student Association
The Muslim Student Association is a diverse group of Muslims on campus coming together to promote peace and interreligious dialogue. They strive to make a positive impact in the community by hosting lectures, group discussions, charity events, and much more, to highlight the Muslim perspective at the University of Dayton. Contact the MSA via email at msa@udayton.edu or visit their Facebook page.
Muslim Prayer Room

A fully functioning prayer room with Quran, Wudu area, and Women's area is in the Rike Center 205 and 207. Use your University of Dayton ID to have access to the Muslim Prayer room, seven days a week, 6:30am – 8:30pm.  Enter using the main entrance with the ramp, across from Heritage Coffee.  When the Rike Center offices are closed, this is the only door that will be available for key card entry.

Jummah

On Fridays at 1:30 pm students meet in the Rike Center, Rooms 205 (men) and 207 (women) for Jummah prayer.

Islamic Scholars

Scholars from the Islamic Center of Centerville provide Khutbah for Jummah on Fridays during the academic year.  Male and female scholars are available for individual support should the need arise.  To reach an Islamic scholar for personal spiritual guidance, please fill out this form or contact Abdul Basit directly at 860-999-2055. Identify yourself as a UD student.  Please allow at least 24 hours for a response.

Dining

There are halal dining options available at Virginia W. Kettering Hall. This includes Passports, Compass Grill, Mongolian Grill, and the Southwest Bar. All dining locations have vegetarian options available, however they are not strictly dedicated vegetarian and therefore some cross-contamination may occur. Use Dining Services NetNutrition feature to check Halal food options.
